About the Albury Wodonga Sailing Club

Founded in 1958, Albury Wodonga Sailing Club Inc is a thriving place where people of all ages and abilities come to discover the joy of sailing. Located on the shores of Lake Hume, approximately a 20 minute drive from Albury and Wodonga, we are on the New South Wales / Victorian border. Lake Hume is the largest body of water between Sydney and Melbourne and is three times the size of Sydney Harbour.

Our Club has a Discover Sailing Centre, which offers Australian Sailing accredited learn to sail classes, including the Dinghy Program , Tackers & Keelboat. We also offer accredited Powerboat courses and Sailability - Sailing for all abilities.

Our Club is available to members all year round with the official sailing season from the start of September through to Easter. We offer racing and cruising opportunities as well as social events. Racing is conducted on Sunday morning (to take advantage of the katabatic breeze) and consists of a variety of fleets, including off the beach dinghies, cats and trailable boats. We are an inclusive Club and have competitors (and members) of various ages and abilities. We support the Australian Sailing Youth Pathway classes and have coaching opportunities for Optimists and Lasers.
The large lawn area at the front of the Club (with a children’s playground) is ideal for relaxing in a Club bean bag, or for entertaining. With a licensed café, wood fired pizza oven and BBQ facilities, it is the perfect location to sit back and enjoy the view of the lake.

Albury Wodonga Sailing Club is the home of “Sail Country”. Since 2014 this major regatta has been held on the Melbourne Cup weekend, drawing hundreds of competitors from Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra and regional areas between.

We have a proud history of hosting State and National regattas that don’t just offer quality racing, but a unique freshwater experience on one of the largest inland waterways in Australia.
